General Information

Like other Model 90 saddles, this one is embossed with "SPECIALE COMPETITION IDEALE TB 90 MADE IN FRANCE" on either side.  It also has seven copper rivets stamped with IDEALE, and two additional smooth rivets.  The copper IDEALE tag on the rear, and a chromed nosing engraved with "IDEALE TB Bte S.G.D.G."  Catalog weight listed at 500g.  Actual weight 542g.

The first example sports the lighter alloy rails, but does not show the stamp of Rebour which signifies that the leather was pre-treated to soften it. The last photo shows the Rebour stamp which was an option on these saddles.

Tron & Berthet made saddles branded Ideale, BIM, and Norex.

Katia Dayde: "BIM was a sub-brand of Tron & Berthet, as Norex. The family Berthet told us that for BIM it was a way of selling lowest quality leathers. Norex was dedicated to North Europe market as Mme Berthet came from Belgium, they developed some specific models for this market."
