General Information
This saddle was one of four lightweight saddles introduced by Brooks at the 1948 Earl's Court show. The range comprised this saddle, the B37 Champion Narrow, B47 Champion Sprint (no bag loops) and the B57 Champion Swallow (a lightweight version of the B17 Swallow). All featured aluminium cantle plates with stainless steel rails and were expensive at the time. As far as I can establish the range was dropped by Brooks around 1952 possibly because of problems with the aluminium cantle plates cracking. There was also a lightweight saddle post clamp available constructed of aluminium and stainless steel to go with them. All are quite rare - particularly the B47 and B57 models.
