General Information
The Huret double shifter was designed to be used with the Louison Bobet "special" rear derailleur.  Both levers are intended for use with the rear derailleur - the outer lever connects to a second gear-control cable which adjusts the tension on the Lousion Bobet derailleur.   This enables the rider to apply extra tension to prevent the chain jumping the cogs or in the case of the speed-concious rider to reduce the tension to enable the chain to run through the gears with less friction.
