General Information

The Stronglight Model 99 crankset was made during the 1970s and the early to mid-1980s.  The 1970s version has the square-edged styling of the Stronglight Model 63 and 93 cranks of the time. The 1980s version has the rounded crank styling of the Sugino and SR cranks of the time.  The Model 99 is unique in that it has an 86 mm BCD which it shares only with the SR Super Apex 5 Touring crankset, making the chainrings interchangeable between these two cranksets.  The chainrings range from an inner of 28-44T to an outer of 45-53T, although since both the inner and outer rings use the same 86 BCD, more compact arrangements are possible.  As a result, both the Stronglight Model 99 and the SR Apex 5 Super Touring are well suited to creating "half step with granny" triple chainring touring gear setups.

Model 99 BIS includes the drilled chain rings, came in both double and triple versions.

* Weight includes bottom bracket and is for the double crankset.  The triple configuration weighed in around 1000g with bottom backet.
