From Disraeli Gears: "Funiculo derailleurs were produced by Jacques-Gustave Schulz in La Garenne-Colombes, in Paris. Shulz fitted his derailleurs on his distinctive bicycles. The first Funiculo system, introduced in 1932 was a three speed system that was offered with a 16, 24, 40T freewheel. In 1934 this was improved to become a 4 speed system with a 16, 20, 28, 40T freewheel. The Funiculos were able to handle the huge 40 tooth sprocket due to their multi-pivot design..."
