General Information
This version is made of one piece only plus clamp. Supposedly it is the earlier version which was replaced by the less material waste producing dual piece model. Clamp is borrowed from Simplex SLJ 6164 seat post. As the general design looks pretty much like a modified SLJ 6164 it is likely beeing made by Simplex.

Brand Information(click to expand)
Mavic is best known for its lightweight aluminum rims and complete wheels, which they continue to produce today.  They also produced a full range of drive train components in the past.  Mavic made a failed attempt to popularize an electronic shifting system in the early 90's.
