Model General Information |
The top of the line for Lejeune, this model was prominent in the pro peloton from the mid 60s into the early 80s. Jan Janssen won the 68 TdF on a similar model labeled Sauvage Lejeune. If one watches a Sunday in Hell, you will see a good part of the Lejeune team falling out of the race due to accidents. Frame, fork, stays Reynolds 531. Steerer was often Nervor. Campagnolo Record/Nuovo/Super Record components. The actual race machines were often built by Bernard Carré and could be distinguished by by B.Carré or the racer's name on the seat stay cap. The example here is a NOS 1972 model.

Respectable quality French made steel frames and forks. LeJeune produced a line of bicycles ranging from road racing models to step through mixties.
